TRASH-HOLD project

Placing my design into context.
Above: the staircase formed by the rods in the "primer" area of level two studio to level three studio space.

Below: the rod formation leading people into the threshold area and the idea of shading and seating for those in the courtyard.
Studies made in regards to the shadows cast by my design.

The things I liked about you’re a1 presentation page was how you used all these lines in which showed different interlocking pathways coming from various areas of the building to the courtyard. It was obvious that all these pathways came together and met at one point, which was the tree. Therefore, I could understand why you chose the tree as an important beginning or end point to your threshold to the studio I do think that your large A1 drawing page represented and presented your idea clearly and aesthetically better than the two A3 images.

The detailed thought you put into every aspect of your threshold design is great. For example, I like how a simple choice such as material clearly defines the two spaces in which are transitioning. The use of a material that is common in the studio, then a material commonly seen in the courtyard and combined together really emphasise how your threshold transitions two spaces.

Also, the idea of every beam having a unique placement and meaning is great. How every different layout of position can help you relate and install your memory at different specific points of the threshold. Although at first it felt like these beams were all individual elements, and to some point they are, they are all connected into some way. Allowing transitioning to occur.
