OFFICIAL new office design.
This office design orignates from the influences of my three journals; archithese, greensource, preservation.
After a lengthy consideration in regards to my design, I decided to reflect the ideas of my journals, rather than to oppose them (as I did in the past). My three journals all have a common characteristic; which is designing self sustainable architecture while being capable of preserving the surrounding landscape. From this, I began to develop my office design.
I wanted to create an architectural form that would blend into the environment while integrating with my personal style; which is simplicity with a tone of complexity.
My office consists of a grass surface with root-like structures intertwining through the design to create an idea of plant growth. The roots act as water ducts for the building as they pump and absorb water. The grass surface acts as a continual texture from the existing ground. The idea that the roots grow from the existing land and the grass texture as an extension of the ground surface represents the idea of preserving the land. There are areas where fresh air can enter the building as well as allowing internal and external relations space.
Although the atmosphere is quite dark interior-wise, it provides a mysterious environment when you first step into the office, but as you walk further into the office, light begins to seep through (due to the large open area at the end of the office). Hence, the working area has a conflicting atmosphere to the start; a bright open space, creating a natural environment for those inside.
I hope you enjoy my office!!!
